top 5 programming languages?

    Uhm. i dont personally have experience in 5 languages yet. but from what i have heard... C++, python, ruby, perl, and batch are up their. but this is mostly what i have heard.

    I think you've acquired some false information ... without taking platform in to consideration, I'd say the 5 most commonly used programming languages are:

    PHP, C/C++, Java, Perl, Ruby (Recently)

    2. Python (little experience but it's a good language
    3. PHP
    4. Java (don't really like this language somehow but it's a good language)
    5. Shell (Unix style :D :D)

    I believe the 5 languages most commonly used for new development are: Java, C, C++, PHP, and C# -- in that order. Objective-C is gaining very quickly though, especially thanks to the iPhone and iPad.

    If you were to ask about my 5 favorite languages, they are:
    Python
    C++
    Objective-C
    Javascript
    PHP

    I don't know if you Googled or not (your comment about most popular languages totally match with this website, which is the #1 Google result ;)) ) but it doesn't matter. All I wanna say is that I think this discussion is about your top 5. I think so because 'most popular languages' topic isn't really a discussion - it's pure statistics.
